Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg has unveiled a new artificial intelligence campaign centred on optimism and wider access to emerging technology.
In a newly released video, Zuckerberg said Meta believes the next phase of AI development should provide individuals with tools to improve their lives and reach their full potential.
“As we enter this next wave with AI, we continue to believe the future is for everyone,” he said. “We’re focused on giving every person the tools to reach their full potential and making sure the benefits of technology are distributed to everyone.”
The Meta CEO also challenged growing concerns that artificial intelligence could weaken human relationships or create a more disconnected society.
“Some people will have you believe AI will make us less connected. We couldn’t disagree more,” Zuckerberg said. “Call us optimists, call us dreamers. Just as we’ve always done, we’re betting on people.”
The campaign presents Meta’s approach to AI as people-focused, contrasting it with what Zuckerberg described as fear-driven and dystopian narratives surrounding the technology.
The announcement comes as Meta increases its investment in artificial intelligence and intensifies efforts to compete with other major technology companies in the rapidly developing AI industry.
