The Nigeria Police Force has arrested Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, in Osun State following a bench warrant issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja. Adeyemi was reportedly apprehended at a hideout in Osun by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team from Abuja, hours after the court ordered his arrest. The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the development in an interview with PUNCH Online on Tuesday.“Yes, it is confirmed. The Intelligence Response Team from Abuja arrested him here in Osun,” Ojelabi said. He added that the suspect was expected to be transferred to Abuja for further investigation and possible prosecution. Before his arrest, Adeyemi had made several claims about how he allegedly secured his appointment. During an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels Television, he claimed that a man identified as Mr. Tanimola acted as an intermediary between him and the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu. Adeyemi alleged that Tanimola delivered the purported appointment letter to him and later received part payment from him, which he claimed was intended for the Chief of Staff. These allegations have not been independently verified. He also claimed that he obtained office space through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja. Adeyemi further questioned the circumstances surrounding Tanimola’s death, claiming that no one had adequately investigated the matter. Police authorities have yet to release full details of the allegations against Adeyemi or disclose when he will appear before the court in connection with the bench warrant.
