Osun State Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, has been arrested and detained alongside five other people following a police operation at a residence linked to him in Oroki Estate, Osogbo, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Police said the operation was initially connected to intelligence about a wanted suspect allegedly linked to serious crimes. Officers reportedly recovered ₦4,810,500, two Permanent Voter Cards, voter registers covering Wards 1–15, a laptop, a photocopier and a printer.
The command said it is investigating possible offences including voter bribery, criminal conspiracy and the alleged harbouring of a wanted person. These remain allegations, and no court has established Igbalaye’s guilt.
The Osun State Government has rejected the police action, describing the raid as unlawful and politically motivated. It said Igbalaye was attending an INEC stakeholders’ meeting when officers entered the residence, where ward officials were reportedly holding a meeting. The government has called on the Inspector-General of Police, the National Security Adviser and President Bola Tinubu to intervene.
As of the most recent reports available, there is no confirmed announcement that he has been released or formally charged in court
